Default Idea: Weapon crafters

Right now we all know how it difficult it is to obtain various weapons with specific mods on them, hence we had greens, which are "unique" items that cannot be modded or dyed.

To further build on that idea, why not have weapon crafters too?

It would further put a stem on the brazen prizes that people can charge for new greens (remember 300K for a RZRSTONE? or 200K + 10 ectos for a rago's flame staff?) as well as control the rate of inflation.

However this idea is not meant to undermine the luxury status of some weapons at all, and as such crafted weapons should probably have the following down sides:

1) It is customized upon crafting, so it can't be sold (perfect gold sink!)
2) It can't be further modded and salvaged nor dyed
3) Crafted weapons will have generic names, so instead of "I'm welding a rare furious crystaline sword of fortitude" it will just be a "I'm welding a furious crafted sword of fortitude" although it have the same skin.
4) Price mods and skins accordingly, basically the NPC should just keep jacking up the pricing for a model or mod to as high as the market will bear (think Apple computers )
5) To further enchance the "RP" nature of the game, along with gold costs, once you have designed your weapon, a random concoction of monster body parts/collector's item will be given to you in the form of a quest, which you will then need to complete before the crafter will even tend to your patronage (God knows how many strange body parts currently have no use in the game, this is the chance!!)
6) These weapons will have a pathetic merchant value of 35g, the same as any old green weapon, even though it might cost 100,000g to craft it.

What it'd serve to do?

For starters, people no longer will need to "grind" as hard to get that perfect crystaline sword they always wanted so they can "look cool".

However, bear in mind that the intention is not so much to make supposedly rare models worthless and commonplace, but to actually:
1) eliminate the need for people to turn to skins and model to differentiate themselves, they are free to build their character to their exact "specifications" to conform with their vision of how their character should be
2) as it is a crafted sword (and the user knows it), it is no longer like he can craft certain sword and flaunt it to everyone else, which we all know is so damned annoying
3) Did I say these swords are perfect gold sinks? Even at 100K, 20 ectos, 10 rubies, and a few various odds and ends, each crafted weapon is essentially gold and materials that is absolutely purged from the economy. It is not salvagable, it only sells for 35g, it is customised and have no more luxury status than a blue collector's item.

The rich can of course still retain their own unique position in society by being able to weld weapons that are infinitely customisable, still as rare as ever, without any chance of having their value challenged by the crafter.

How you find this idea? With some tweaks and further additions it might turn out to be a great idea!

They could make a crystaline sword that cost like the same as FoW armor but maybe with rubies and sapphires aswell.

Although, knowing the ebayers. There would be a lot of them around.

Well the idea would be there is little to none glory or "show off" factor if you are holding one of these, and yet these are perfectly good weapons that can be customized to the player's needs.

I disagree that you should be able to craft rare weapons. Rare weapons are rare for a reason, not everyone has them and it is completely random for you to get one dropped. Making rare items common would just cause massive deflation in the guild wars economy as rare things aren't worth much anymore. Most people see the skin and know its rare, you don't have to ping your weapon to do that. Having cool weapons with a particular skin is totally fine, as it distinuighes that person. Part of PvE is that rare good looking items are hard to come by, so it makes having them that much more special. But the problem is that low cost perfect weapons don't exist, so having perfect rare weapons not only is cool because people can see that you have that particular rare weapon, it also means you can use the exact weapon with the exact mods you want as long as you can afford it.

Instead I think this should be used to get the generic weapon you want but can't afford. Collectors unforunately can not give you every single weapon you want - many weapons and items from collectors you have to get at less than max because the collectors that give max weapons do not carry them. This is partly because there are only a limited amount of collectors, and partly because for many max items 2 collectors carry the same thing. Even if the particular weapon you want exists in max collector's form, you still have to buy insanely priced weapon mods to get it in the form you want it.

Making the weapon crafter in Droknar's Forge be able to craft any weapon you want would help with this, instead of just being able to craft one particular version as it is now. The weapon crafter would be more like choosing your pvp weapon than it is now, the veriety would be more. You would be able to craft any weapon with any mod you want. So you want a vampiric axe of axe mastery with 15%>50 - you can craft that. Need an insightful holy staff of enchanting with 20/20 protection, you can get that too. And it would only cost you the same cost it does now, 5k + materials, but could even cost a 10k + materials because you are adding weapon mods that the crafter doesn't give you now.

The only caveat would be the the weapon you make is generic. It literally would be just a blue "vampiric axe of axe mastery" with the pvp skin, not a gold "vampiric sephis axe of axe mastery" and the associated distinct skin. It would retain the novelty and rarity of such items without gouging people who can't afford rare weapons out of high quality weapons to use.
